Appeals

A program may only appeal an adverse action taken by the ACEN Board of Commissioners. An adverse action is defined as a denial of initial accreditation or a denial of continuing accreditation. If a program appeals an adverse action taken by the Board of Commissioners, a seven-member Appeal Committee is appointed to the specific appeal. See POLICY #10 Appeal Process and Submission and Review of New Financial Information Subsequent to Adverse Action for more information.

Appeal Committee

The Appeal Committee members represent nursing education, nursing service, and the general public. Members are appointed by the ACEN Board of Commissioners.

Arbitration

Arbitration applies only to an adverse action by the ACEN Board of Commissioners that has been fully and finally determined by a written decision of the Appeal Committee pursuant to ACEN Policy #10 Appeal Process and Submission and Review of New Financial Information Subsequent to Adverse Action.

Arbitrators

Arbitrators represent nurse educators/clinicians, nurse clinicians/practitioners, administrators, and the public, and do not include current ACEN Board of Commissioners members or current ACEN appeal committee members.
