Mary Jean Vickers, DNP, RN, ACNS-BC, NEA-BC

Dr. Mary Jean Vickers has been affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical Center since 2005. She has been the Program Manager of Clinical Development since 2008, overseeing the orientation and development needs of over 2000 nursing employees. She leads a team of twelve nurse educators. In addition, Dr. Vickers is responsible for two Fairview Health System programs for the orientation of new hires and the Nurse Residency Program.  Prior to joining the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Dr. Vickers was on faculty at Ohio State University as a Clinical Associate. Dr. Vickers has also worked in clinical practice primarily in the hospital setting with experience in Obstetrical, Surgical, and Critical Care Nursing.

She received her diploma in nursing from Mount Carmel School of Nursing, her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Ohio State University, and her Doctor in Nursing Practice degree from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Vickers currently serves as an ACEN site visitor.  She is on the nursing advisory council of the Minneapolis Community Technical College. She has been recognized for excellence in leading teams and clinical teaching.  She is a member of national nursing organizations including the American Nursing Association, The Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science, American Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Sigma Theta Tau International. She has presented nationally most recently at the National DNP conference in Phoenix Arizona.
