Mingle with Marcy: Policy Updates, Moving, & eCourse Registration
By Dr. Marcy Stoll, EdD, MSN | CEO | ACEN
The end of one year and the start of another, along with the upcoming holidays seems to naturally inspire reflection. This year in particular inspires me to reflect and have gratitude for the ACEN Board of Commissioners, staff, and of course YOU, our supportive partners.
2020 was a very different and demanding year for everyone – you, your colleagues, students, ACEN, the entire world. There are no words to capture the impact from COVID-19 and its full impact will echo for many, many years. There is hope on the horizon based on the recent announcements regarding vaccines. Hang in there and PLEASE continue all the necessary COVID safety measures by maintaining distancing, wearing a mask, using proper hand hygiene, and being with only a small number of people also practicing COVID-appropriate safety measures.
I am excited to announce that on December 1, 2020 the ACEN will move into our headquarters at 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, Georgia 30326. All contact information such as the ACEN website, email addresses, and telephone numbers remain the same. You will not experience any delay in support. However, there is a small impact on your end now related to updating the ACEN accreditation disclosure statement for your program(s).
For ACEN-accredited programs:
- First, ensure the accreditation disclosure statement now reflects “3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, Georgia 30326”.
- Second, ensure the accreditation disclosure statement also complies with the required format and required information per Policy #9, which became effective in July 2020.
In early 2021, all nurse administrators will receive a request for evidence that the ACEN accreditation disclosure statement for your program(s) complies with Policy #9. The request will also ask for evidence that the most recent student achievement data for your program(s) is published per Policy #29.
For ACEN candidate programs:
- First, ensure the candidate disclosure statement now reflects “3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, Georgia 30326″.
- Second, ensure the candidate disclosure statement also complies with the required format and required information per Policy #34, which became effective in July 2020.
In early 2021, all nurse administrators will receive a request for evidence that the ACEN candidate disclosure statement for your program(s) complies with Policy #34.
This year we were able to expand online access to programs/services and the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated these plans. We are proud to introduce ACEN Everywhere, our virtual learning platform, that brings ACEN programs to you; anytime and everywhere. The content of the Self-Study Forum was developed into an eCourse entitled Understanding and Applying the ACEN Standards and Criteria and the content of the Program Administrator Workshop developed into an eCourse entitled Effectively Leading an ACEN Accredited Program. As your supportive partner, we are offering a one-time $100.00 COVID Relief Scholarship per ACEN-accredited nursing program to use on either eCourse via ACEN Everywhere (valid to December 31, 2021). We hope the scholarship helps with all the challenges you and your colleagues are juggling. Nurse administrators will receive a follow-up email with information on how to redeem the COVID Relief Scholarship.
