Nurse Educator Representative – Associate/Practical
Claudia Estrada is currently the Director of the Associate and Practical Nursing Programs at New Mexico State University Carlsbad in Carlsbad, New Mexico. During her tenure at NMSU Carlsbad, she has served as professor of nursing teaching pharmacology and medical surgical nursing and has assumed a variety of appointed and elected roles on college wide committees including Chair of Promotion and Tenure, and Vice Chair of Institutional Assessment Committee. Ms. Estrada was awarded the Donald C. Roush memorial award for excellence in teaching in 2006 and 2012. She has participated with the NCSBN as an item writer for the NCLEX-RN exam in 2009 and 2010. She has been a member of the Nursing Education Advisory Committee with the New Mexico Board of Nursing since 2015 and currently serves as Vice Chair.
Ms. Estrada earned her MSN degree from the University of Phoenix in 2002, her BSN from the University of New Mexico in 1997 and her ADN from NMSU Carlsbad in 1985. Ms. Estrada has provided expert witness testimony in medical surgical and adult critical care for the past 12 years. She has served as a peer evaluator for ACEN since 2013.
