The ACEN Board of Commissioners took the following actions during its meeting on November 18, 2015. The following lists the accreditation decisions from that meeting.


Substantive Change Report: A report submitted by an accredited program informing the ACEN of a significant modification or expansion of the nature and scope of a nursing program and/or nursing education unit.

Focused Visit: A site visit authorized by the ACEN Board of Commissioners to review significant accreditation-related information disclosed about a program as a result of:

  1. A substantive change;
  2. Information revealed about a program between periods of scheduled review;
  3. Information received from the governing organization’s accrediting body related to an adverse action;
  4. Information received from the program’s state regulatory agency for nursing related to a change in its status;
  5. Information revealed by a program during the Evaluation Review Panel process;
  6. Information received from the U.S. Department of Education regarding a program’s compliance responsibilities under Title IV of the Higher Education Act such as information related to a program’s most recent student loan default rates, the results of financial or compliance audits, program reviews, and any other information that may be provided by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Commission reviewed substantive change reports for the following programs:

Alderson Broaddus University (Baccalaureate) – Philippi, WV: Accept the substantive change report related to a financial audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014; request update on funding for 2015-2016 academic year; and affirm the next accreditation site visit in the Fall 2019 Cycle.

Amarillo College (Associate) – Amarillo, TX: Accept the substantive change report related to a change in status with the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) due to a decline in licensure examination pass rates; request copy of correspondence with TBON; and affirm the next accreditation site visit in the Fall 2019 Cycle.

Bryan College of Health Sciences (Master’s) – Lincoln, NE: Accept the substantive change report related to the implementation of a new Nursing Leadership/Nursing Administration program option and an increase in enrollment; and affirm the next accreditation site visit in the Fall 2018 Cycle.
